The Paperie Email Marketing

As part of my work with The Paperie, I get to send out emails to their mailing list every few weeks highlighting some of the beautiful stationery that they sell. As always with HTML email, the difficulty is in creating a layout which is visually inspiring but also works across the many major mail clients and different sizes of mail client window that might be encountered.

This example is from a mailer sent out in March 2010 launching a new range of notebooks from Pantone® – a company synonymous with design and colour. I chose to go with a bold photograph of the products using the colours from the products in other areas of the design. The mailer works across all major email clients – including mobile clients such as iPhone and web clients such as Gmail.

Shiny Development

After working with Shiny on the design and build of the website to support their Balloons! iPhone App last year, I was recently asked by the founders, Dave and Andrew, to design and build their new company website. The new site was to focus on both their own apps and also their newly-introduced iPhone training courses.

Using the existing branding, I designed a fresh new look for the company which was focused around their position as iPhone and iPad experts. I created individual pages for each of their internal apps and also extended the look and feel through to a new iPhone developer blog.

On launch of the site, Andrew simply had this to say:

“Thanks for all your efforts – the web site looks excellent.”

The Mob Film Company

Working with MASSmeeja

I developed a WordPress-based website for this London-based film company working with Bob Berridge at MASSmeeja.  This video-heavy site turned out to be a pretty challenging project with more than 50 film clips at launch all being streamed via Flash from the Amazon CloudFront content delivery network.

Bob had this to say about working with me:

I’ve used Simon’ s services over a number of years now and they have always resulted in professional and well executed jobs. He will take the time to delve deeper into the brief, uncover any hidden problems and offer sensible, real-world solutions. A thumbs up from me…

The website makes extensive use of jQuery throughout to control the video player and specifically to display an easy to use gallery for each individual director attached to The Mob Film Company.

The project also utilises the cufón text replacement method to enable the use of specific typefaces throughout the site.

Forklift Clamps

Working with MASSmeeja

I built this site which functions as a catalogue of reconditioned forklift attachments for Manchester-based Abbey Attachments.  The project was lead by Bob Berridge at MASSmeeja.

The client has this to say on completion of the site:

We are all so impressed – we think the site is AWESOME.

I was responsible for the design and build of the XHTML/CSS templates and the development of a small Rails 2.3 application which is used to power the website.  The application incorporates advanced Rails features including multiple photo uploads and a full text search engine.

Balloons! for iPhone

Back in July 2009 I was invited by Dave Verwer of Shiny Development to design a website for the new Balloons! iPhone application he was developing. The app finally made it through the App Store approval process earlier this month and is now available for purchase around the world.

This is what Dave had to say after the website was launched:

Working with Simon was a great experience. He came up with a fantastic concept which perfectly highlighted the fun and interactivity of our iPhone app and then he delivered a high quality finished website within our budget. We will definitely work with him again in the future.

I was responsible for the entire design and development process for the website, including integrating the final design in to the Balloons! support forum powered by BBpress.

Constellia

I have worked with Constellia over a number of years to help develop their business – first developing a marketing-focused website but then developing a large Ruby on Rails-based web portal to support their business model.

Alan Gotto, CEO of Constellia, had this to say about working with me:

Simon provided us with a big agency service – without the big agency price. His network is of the highest calibre, and they have constantly exceeded expectations – which has led to us developing a close long term relationship with the team.
