Having read and then been educated about Dave Verwer’s choices for Albums of the Decade, I thought I would compile my own list. After much deliberation, and much chiding by Dave for every choice which didn’t agree with his list, here are my choices – my top 10 albums of 2000-2009 in chronological order:

• The Avalanches – Since I Left You – 2000
• Kings of Leon - Youth & Young Manhood – 2003
• Arcade Fire – Funeral (not on Spotify) – 2004
• Franz Ferdinand – Franz Ferdinand – 2004
• The Streets - A Grand Don’t Come For Free – 2004
• Maxïmo Park - A Certain Trigger – 2005
• Muse – Black Holes and Revelations – 2006
• MGMT - Oracular Spectacular – 2007
• Sigur Rós - Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust – 2008
• Jay-Z – The Blueprint 3 – 2009

It’s hard to pick a top album from that list although I’m sure plenty of people will disagree.  Feel free to leave your own suggestions in the comments or trackback from your own list.

   Nice list.

   Wrong, but a nice list anyway

   Actually MGMT, Oracular Spectacular and Maximo Park, A Certain Trigger were on my shortlist and I think you were right to include A Grand Don’t Come For Free rather than Original Pirate Material.
